About Dr. Susan Lovelle
I trained at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. I spent twenty-five years as a surgeon â General Surgery and Colorectal fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian, Chief Resident of Plastic Surgery at Montefiore, a microsurgery fellowship. Precision was the job.
Then I became the patient.
Three ICU hospitalizations for blood clots â in my legs and in my lungs. The third time, I had sepsis. I was feverish and confused, and the doctor on call decided antibiotics werenât necessary. My husband was there. He advocated. He insisted. He saved my life.
I gave a TEDx talk about that moment â âThe $78 Billion Cost of Disbeliefâ (TEDx Morgan Street Women, March 2026) â because it happens every day to smart, capable people whose doctors arenât listening. Women especially. High-achievers especially.
That experience is why I built Balanced Performance, and itâs why I built the Executive Vitality Spotlight.
